Resolved Question: Asbestos in Victor Bombers and their like 1960's?
I have contracted an asbestos related tumour which am informed was dormant and could have been inhaled over 40 years ago.I was the second person on site when an Victor bomber crashed on take off in 1962 I spent over two hours at this site with all debris and chemicals etc but wasn't aware if this could have been where I may have got Mesothelioma. I served many years in the Royal Air Force joining at age 15 But my trade was Telegraphist. It just happened that this crash happened as I was coming off duty in Akrotiri. I have never worked with this stuff knowlngly but do know that RAF Cosford Billets were heated and lagged with asbestos etc and I spent almost two years in such accomodation also at Bletchley where the heating was sparse to say the least and tug of war between us and the displaced people trying to survive at this time.Any help would be most appreciated

My mom died a few years ago from this disease and we don't know how she was exposed, so just trying to get information. She was actually a surgical nurse for 30 years. The hospital she worked at was always being renovated as it was very old, but we don't know if that is how she was exposed or not. I am just hoping that it is not some random genetic thing that is completely un-related to asbestos.

He now wishes to come home, but almost no airlines will allow him on the flight with oxygen. Does anyone know of anywhere that can help? From a charity to a major airline, he will do anything to get home, as the average time for survival of this type of cancer is 9 months. He has had this for 8 months, so there is a certain sense of urgency about this. Please help. Hello, These symptoms started about 2 or 3 months ago, after walking for several miles. I am 64, and have shortness of breath that comes on once or twice a day, as well as coughing up flem. I've been to the heart doctor and he says my heart is fine. Nothing has showed up on my chest x rays. I have been exposed to asbestus in my work, years ago. I have an appointment with a lung doctor in a couple of weeks. Anyone have any ideas? Asbestosis and mesothelioma, come to mind, but I was told those should have shown up on the chest x ray from my family doctor.

So, there is a member of my family who is very sick. He has Mesothelioma and can not take medicine to treat it (long story). He is constantly in pain and is suffering. "I want god to take me, but he obviously doesn't want me...I'm still here" The thing is, my family is really religious (aside from my mother, father, and I) And his family is REALLY religious. So, do you think it is wrong that he is asking "god" to take him, with him being a hard core Christian? Is it wrong that he wishes to be dead and leave his family behind? Would he like, go to "hell" or somthing for wishing that on himself? What is your personal view on this? She had a surgery 5 weeks ago, the doctor had removed her right lung, she is still very weak now and has a very bad cough in the evenings, she will be having radiotherapy from next week onwards and her chemotherapy will start in July, the doctor told us that there are malignant cells on the area of her heart also and this is very worrying. We live in singapore and Mesothelioma is very rare here. She is 59 yrs old.
She had a surgery 5 weeks ago, the doctor had removed her right lung, she is still very weak now and has a very bad cough in the evenings, she will be having radiotherapy from next week onwards and her chemotherapy will start in July, the doctor told us that there are malignant cells on the area of her heart also and this is very worrying. We live in singapore and Mesothelioma is very rare here. She is 59 yrs old.

I don't personally service brakes; I only replace tires. This does expose me to some dust when I remove the wheel from the car or truck, although I try to avoid breathing it in. Also, are macrophages and other leukocytes unable to carry out phagocytosis on asbestos fibers?

My dad suffers from a malignant type cancer (mesothelioma), and he is on chemotherapy. It seems that everyday he becomes more angry and more agressive towards everybody. Is this due to his cancer or chemo? My mom and I are deeply saddened by his condition, but everyday he screams and yells at us for no reason. Is there something else that we can do to help him? I feel even more sorry for my mom because she is the one who receives the most insults by my dad. I see her cry everyday because of that. What can we do?

Resolved Question: Mesothelioma (What to exspect?)?
My Aunt was diagnosed with this about two months ago. The doctors have told our family it is inoperable. The symptoms she is having now is flluid buildup in her lungs which has to be removed about every 4 days. I wanted to know if anyone knows what to exspect from here. They will give her a kimo treatment in a few days, but I wonder if this will do any good. If anyone can tell me about how long someone with this lives once it gets to this stage. Thank you so much, any help will be greatly appreciated. I wanted to know is it time to call hospice or how long we should wait?
